“国际化示范学院推进计划”由国家外国专家局和教育部共同实施，通过引进海外高层次专家团队，打造国际化示范学院，探索教学、科研、管理体制机制创新，推动高等教育内涵式发展。2014 年， 国家外国专家局、教育部共同启动“国际化示范学院推进计划”，天津大学药物科学与技术学院、上海交通大学数学系（2015年更名为数学科学学院）、西安交通大学可持续发展学院、华中科技大学工程科学学院成为全国首批“推进计划”试点院系，旨在推进高校国际化发展方面进行探索和实践，为引领和示范全国高校国际化发展积累经验。

Initiated in 2014 by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, the Promotion Plan of “NICE” (Network of International Centers of Education in China) aims to explore an innovative mechanism of teaching, scientific research, and administrative management, while promoting full development of higher education in China through setting up schools for internationalization where high-level overseas expert teams are recruited. The selected schools are dedicated to internationalization, in order to accumulate experience as well as lead and demonstrate the practice of internationalization among universities throughout the country. The first pilot batch of the participants consists of the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology of Tianjin University, the Department of Mathematics (reorganized into the School of Mathematical Sciences in December 2015) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, XJTU-HKUST Joint School of Sustainable Development of Xi’an Jiaotong University, and the School of Engineering Sciences of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
